PowerMax

Richard H. Barrett

Forecasting prices does not work. PowerMax uses AI to select profitable trades without forecasting prices.
Richard Barrett, Chief Investment Officer

BS and MS degrees in Electrical Engineering (Computer Science Specialization), Rice University (a lifetime ago!)

Developed computer systems to manage weapons systems at General Dynamics (1970’s)
Led a team that developed ride control systems at Walt Disney Entertainment (1978-1980)
Founded a company that developed custom ICs for disk and tape controllers (1980’s)
Developed disk drive electronics and software for Quantum, Micropolis and Maxtor (1980’s)
Built a career in software systems and databases which rekindled his early interest in artificial intelligence and neural networks (late 1980’s-2000’s)

Earned degrees in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Python from Udacity.com, an early online university (2000’s)

Combined his skills in AI and ML with an interest in financial markets (2000’s)
Developed a system to trade stock options using ML (2017)

Years later, Richard’s early system of stock-trading has evolved into PowerMax. Powermax has achieved considerable success, delivering returns that exceed the S&P 500 by 25-40%, while also achieving Sharpe ratios (a measure of risk) considerably better than those of the S&P 500.

Now Richard focuses on developing PowerMax V2, with plans to extend its performance beyond the US stock market.

A lifetime ago, Richard Barrett earned BS and MS degrees in Electrical Engineering (Computer Science Specialization) from Rice University. He developed computer systems to manage weapons systems at General Dynamics, then developed ride control systems at Walt Disney Entertainment.

Soon he discovered hi-tech and start-up businesses. He founded a company that developed custom ICs for disk and tape controllers. He developed disk drive electronics and software for Quantum, Micropolis and Maxtor. Then he built a career in software systems and databases, which rekindled his early interest in artificial intelligence and neural networks.

Later Richard earned degrees in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Python from Udacity.com, an early online university. Combining his skills in AI and ML with an interest in financial markets, in 2017 Richard developed a system to trade stock options using ML. Years later, that early system has evolved into PowerMax, which has achieved considerable success, delivering returns that exceed the S&P 500 by 25-40%, while also achieving Sharpe ratios (a measure of risk) considerably better than those of the S&P 500.

Now Richard focuses on developing PowerMax V2 with plans to extend its performance beyond the US stock market.
