Ben Mayberry
People hire money managers because of the convenience, not because of their performance.
Most do not even outperform the S&P 500 index.
Individual investors perform even worse.
They deserve better performance. They need PowerMax.
Ben Mayberry has been involved in the technology industry in Houston for 50 years. For the past 25 years, Ben has focused on assisting smaller companies through his company Winston Sage Partners, and also making strategic investments. Winston Sage has assisted dozens of companies with M&A work, part time executive positions, and general consulting. In addition to investments in startups, they also acquired a sod farm in 2004 and grew it over a ten year period, and helped launch Winston Sage Custom Homes. (Ben’s partner fishes with a Winston rod, while Ben prefers a Sage.)
Ben was a founder of BSG in Houston in 1987, a systems integrator utilizing PCs in the early years. Starting with 2 people initially, they grew BSG to over 650 with multiple offices over a ten year period prior to sale in 1996. BSG was a very active recruiter at Rice and the Jones Business School.
Ben has been active in the entrepreneurial community in Houston for the past 25 years. He was a founding member and former President of the Houston Angel Network (HAN), and an investor in several startups. HAN is now one of the most active angel networks in the country.
His education includes a B.A. from Rice University in Mathematical Sciences in 1973, and a Masters in Accountancy from the Jones Graduate School in 1974.
Mr. Mayberry has served on the board of several private companies, with a reputation for speaking frankly and sometimes as the contrarian voice. After 15 years running a ranch in the hill country and breeding whitetail deer, Ben traded the summer heat for a summer home in Montana in 2016.
